Road Safety - speeding vehicles and parking issues on Loop Road North, Whitehaven.
Information from PACT surveys, Calls for service and local residents
Priority raised 27 May 2026, still current as detailed in PACT surveys, information from partner agencies and local council and residents

Complaints received about speeding on Loop Road North as well as vehicles parked blocking pavement, yellow lines and junctions.
placement of TDU (traffic data unit) Requested on road to ascertain extent of issue, average speeds and most prevalent times.
- speed checks conducted by NPT officers with laser speed gun, enforcement and/or education where necessary.
- patrols by Police and Council to tackle parking issues.
10/07/26 - checks conducted with Pro Laser speed gun early evening, no vehicles found exceeding speed limit whilst present.
egular patrols of the area along with speed checks and enforcement where appropriate continue to be carried out by NPT and RPU departments.
05/08/26 - vehicles said to be blocking pavements and views out of junctions around Victoria Road, officers attended and found no issues with those vehicles present at time of report.
Numerous vehicles stopped due to reports of manner of driving
07/09/26 - Report of vehicle swerving in road, possible drunk driver. Vehicle stopped and roadside tests conducted which showed driver was not impaired, allowed on way with advice.
19/08/26 - minor damage only RTC where vehicle rear-ended at junction, investigation ongoing.
NPT will continue to patrol the area and take action where necessary and appropriate to do so including issuing of fixed penalty notices and conducting speed enforcement activities through use of laser speed gun.
