    Priority raised 18 June 2024, still current as detailed in PACT surveys, information from partner agencies and local council and residents

    •We will be in the area carrying out speed checks
    •Speed strips added across road at The Green and The Hill to collect traffic data
    •Speed awareness using community speed gun
    •High visibility patrols around Millom including Old Ironworks Nature Reserve and local footpaths (off road bikes and quadbikes)
    •Off road motor bike located and Seized by officers
    •Information received of hot spot location which will be targeted by officers
    •Traffic monitoring strips implemented in main identified areas

    21.06.2025 - Silecroft patrol following information of vehicles using the road from Main street to the beach as a race track
    - Speed checks with speed gun at Kirksanton and Silecroft on 12th June, 22nd June and 30th June due to complaints raised from PACT survey and local Police desks. Positive action has been taken on a number of drivers identified driving over permitted speeds for these locations. Checks in Millom and Haverigg on 22nd June including Tesco's, Lancashire Road, The Square, The Old Ironworks Nature Reserve and Poolside (Haverigg).
    1 off road bike was seized on the dunes at Haverigg - these are a SSSI area and as such riding an unauthorised motor vehicle is NOT permitted added to this said motorbike was seen in Millom/Haverigg driving in a inappropriate manner.

    1st July: Checks in Kirksanton and Silecroft (road from village to beach car park) with speed gun - nothing of note to report
    2nd July: Checks in Kirksanton and Silecroft including beach car park manner of driving, ASB driving and use of speed gun - nothing of note to report although some positive comments by local residents taking dogs for a walk
    2nd July Checks on Old Iron Works Nature Reserve and surrounding areas for "off road bikes" - all in order
    7th July: Speed checks in Kirksanton and Silecroft - all in order.
    21 August 2025 - Male driver arrested following a collision on Horn Hill for driving whilst over the prescribed limit for alcohol. He has been charged and will appear in court on 22 September.
    22/08/2025 - 3 Vehicle collision at Moor Road, Millom, offending driver made off from scene, located and arrested for over the prescribed limit of alcohol.

    23/08/2025 - Fail to stop collision at Lapstone Road, Millom, offending vehicle Investigation ongoing

    10/09/2025 - Vehicle seized for no Tax
    11/09/2025 - Vehicle failed to stop for police, pursued for 10 minutes and crashed, driver arrested and vehicle uplifted no insurance.

    10th September: After a 3 vehicle road traffic collision, 1 vehicle uplifted for no road tax - driver reported to DVLA
    11th September: a failed to stop driver pursued and arrested vehicle uplifted
    22nd September: Speed checks on the A595 in the Muncaster area - all in order

    20/10/25: Speed checks around Silecroft and ASB driving on the beach carpark - all in order
    18th December; Targeted patrols in Millom and Haverigg around identified vehicles involved in anti social driving, and possible other driving offences
    21st December: Hi viz patrols in Millom and Haverigg in respect of ASB driving and targeting known drivers and or vehicles.
    22nd December: Speed checks with speed gun at The Hill and The Green in the Millom area
    29th December: Hi viz patrols around Millom and Haverigg around identified targets involved in driving offences and ASB manner of driving
    30th December: Hi viz patrols around highlighted hotspot areas in the Millom area
    31st December: Hi viz patrols around the Millom and Haverigg area. Vehicle seized, no insurance and other driving offences
    3rd January - speed checks carried out in the Bootle and Millom area throughout the day – all was in order.
    8th January - numerous vehicle checks, everything in order, no issues with manner of driving from any vehicles.
    One vehicle was stopped for driving with no insurance. The driver was spoken to.
    9th January – Speed checks on A595, Bootle area.
    17th January - Mobile patrol around Millom and surrounding areas throughout the shift.
    One vehicle stopped due to manner of driving on Lapstone Road, Millom.
    Checks all in order and suitable words of advice provided to the driver.

    18th January - Mobile patrols around Millom and Haverigg, static observations at The Hill, numerous vehicles checked, no issues.
    Mobile patrols around Haverigg, Millom, The Hill, The Green, Silecroft and Bootle. The only issue observed was two youths on off road bikes on LAPSTONE ROAD.
    19th January - Mobile patrols throughout the afternoon around Millom, Haverigg, and Silecroft. Multiple vehicles checked. One vehicle stopped as showing as MOT expired.
    20th January - Static observations in and around Bootle.
    One vehicle stopped on A595 just outside of Bootle as MOT expired.
    22nd January - Speed awareness checks in Millom, Haverigg, and Muncaster with Speed gun, no issues at this time.
    Static and mobile patrols around A595 Bootle. 2 vehicles stopped, 1 for having no tax, and 1 for no insurance.
    25th January - Mobile patrols around Millom, Haverigg, Silecroft, and Bootle. No issues at this time.
    27th January - Hi viz patrols around the Millom area in known vehicle ASB areas including Devonshire Rd, Lancashire Rd, Tesco carpark. Attended Silecroft including beach carpark.
    28th January - Hi viz patrols around highlighted problem areas including The Square/St George's Rd, Devonshire Rd and Lancashire Rd.
    29th January - Mobile patrols around Millom town centre - No issues at this time.
    31st January – HI viz patrols in the Millom Town Centre area in the afternoon/evening. 3 police vehicles in the area at this time.
    Arrest made on Lapstone Rd for a male driving over the prescribed limit.
    2nd February – Checks around the Old Ironworks and Hodbarrow Nature reserve – nothing of note observed.
    7th February - Checks around Old Ironworks Nature Reserve and Hodbarrow Nature Reserve (RSPB nesting area) - nothing of note to report
    7th February – A male has been arrested for S.5A of the Road Traffic Act – being over the prescribed limit for drugs. Male has been released under investigation pending blood analysis
    8th February – Checks around ‘hotspot’ areas in Millom. No sightings or noise observed from any off-road bikes.
    11th February – Mobile and high visibility patrols around Millom, Haverigg, Thwaites and the Bootle Area. No issues observed
    17th February – Mobile and static vehicle patrols, document checks on a number of vehicles and no issues noted.
    21st February – Mobile patrol in Millom, Haverigg, Silecroft and Bootle. No issues observed.
    21st February – following a three vehicle RTC, the offending driver has been prosecuted for driving without insurance.
    22nd February – Mobile and high visibility foot patrol around Millom, Haverigg, Silecroft and Bootle. No issues observed.
    26th February - Kai Scudamore sentenced to a 12 month suspended sentence, an obligatory 3 year driving disqualification and a number of fines and costs following a pursuit through the Whicham Valley. Scudamore was convicted of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a license.
    28th February – Following a report made by a member of the public of a young male driving a motorcross bike through Millom Town Centre, officers were deployed to search for the vehicle. Extensive area searches for 2 hours were negative for the bike.
    2nd March – Mobile patrols in Millom, Haverigg, Silecroft and Bootle. Foot patrol conducted around Haverigg Primary school at finishing time. A vehicle failed to stop for police – enquiries ongoing to prosecute the driver.
    3rd March – Mobile patrols around Millom and Haverigg. Foot Patrol conducted around Haverigg Primary School at finishing time, no issues.
    5th March – Mobile patrols in Millom and Haverigg area. No issues observed.
    6th March - Phillip Carter pled guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis in custody after having provided a positive preliminary drug wipe. Carter was sentenced to a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and an obligatory 12 month driving disqualification.
    11th March – Mobile Patrols around Millom and Haverigg. Static obs on the A595 around Bootle. Numerous vehicles checks and no issues identified.
    12th March – Static obs at the Hill and the A595 between Bootle and Muncaster. One vehicle stopped for showing no insurance. Upon speaking with the driver, a second policy was in place and no further action was needed.

    On 31st March 5450 - Mobile patrols around Millom and Haverigg area. No issues observed.

    Cars with extremely loud exhausts speeding over this bridge near Hodgson Gardens and can hear then speed down Moor Road and then turn left to go over the railway bridge.

    There was a 12-13 yr old on an e-scooter in Millom park on an e-scooter. Boy located and words of advice given to him and his mother. Both receptive of advice given.

    The driver only had a provisional licence and wasn't on insurance, reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance.

    20/04/2026 CBO's 2688/2867 - Vehicle sighted on A595 Waberthwaite, showing no insurance, stopped on Birkby Road, Eskdale.
    Driver spoken with, admitted to having no insurance, TOR issued.
    Vehicle sighted on A595 Holmrook, showing a SORN, recovery was arranged, but driver returned with family and were allowed to tax vehicle at roadside as appeared to be a genuine mistake.

    Driver stopped, MOT expired, driver issued a TOR.

    30/04/2026 PCSO 5450 - Foot patrol throughout Millom, pit bike observed on St George Street, No reg. Member of the public identified the driver. They were visit at home at a later date.
    2 E-scooters also observed on Lancashire Rd, heading down the lane opposite. Both had passengers, both teenagers. No protective clothing. Unable to locate down the track.

    Vehicle sighted on A595 Holmrook, showing a SORN, recovery was arranged, but driver returned with family and were allowed to tax vehicle at roadside as appeared to be a genuine mistake.

    21/04/2026 CBO 2688 - Static observations and mobile patrols around Millom and A595 around Bootle.
    Driver stopped, MOT expired, driver issued a TOR.

    30/04/2026 PCSO 5450 - Foot patrol throughout Millom, pit bike observed on St George Street, No reg. Member of the public identified the driver. They were visit at home at a later date.
    2 E-scooters also observed on Lancashire Rd, heading down the lane opposite. Both had passengers, both teenagers. No protective clothing. Unable to locate down the track.
