Off Road Bikes - causing issues at Cleator Moor and Frizington
Information from Calls for service and Local residents.

    Priority raised 19.04.2026

    Issued 19 June 2026

    Action taken:

With the lighter nights and warmer weather we have seen an increase in calls for service for nuisance off road bikes, we are planning an operation in the coming weeks to address this issue and will be targeting problem areas and utilising the use of the drone to assist us in identifying offenders

12.06.2026 - Officers were out throughout the afternoon, stopping a number of vehicles and engaging with drivers to ensure they were complying with road traffic laws. The operation focused on identifying issues which can put road users at risk, with offences dealt with including:
    • driving without insurance
    • vehicle defects
    • using vehicles in a dangerous or unroadworthy condition
    • drug and alcohol-related driving offences

One driver was arrested for failing to provide documents and driving without insurance. Two drivers were arrested for positive drug driving. A further two drivers had negative breath tests.

    Actioned 19 June 2026

  • Priority:

    YOU SAID
Poaching / illegal Fishing at Longlands Lake

    Issued 27 May 2026

    Action taken:

    WE DID
The Wath Brow and Ennerdale Anglers Society reached out to The Rural Crime Team in regards to poaching that took place at Longlands Lake in 2025. As the new fishing season approached and they were preparing to restock the lake they were looking for advice on how to reduce this.
We had a meeting on 23rd March at the Lake with the committee to discuss and provide Crime Prevention advice. Our main concern was the lack of signage that is in the area that provides information to the public regarding permits and how to purchase them.
With the assistance of The Rural Crime Team we have provided them with signs on 21st April for them to display in and around the area. Our main objective is to help educate people as well as deter them
We have also been conducting high visibility patrols of the Lake to assist with this

    Actioned 27 May 2026
