Priority:
Complaints of persistent Fly Camping around Keswick and Derwent Water during the summer of 2025 causing ASB and Damage to the environment.
Priority to run over the summer tourist season in 2026
Action taken:
- Area Action Plan developed and lead by the Lake District National Park and work is ongoing with the LDNPA, Cumberland Council, and National Trust to tackle identified issues and develop longer term solutions
- High visibility patrols during peak periods of demand
- Development of media campaign to discourage fly camping before the 2026 summer period
- Enforcement of nuisance fly camping under the Cumberland Council PSPO (Public Space Protection Order) -
Priority:
There have been multiple reports of Criminal Damage to both Fitz Park and Hope Park including damage to leisure equipment, fires, and damage to trees.
Action taken:
WE DID:
1. Targeted patrols in the affected areas
2. Group of youths located in the act of causing damage to trees in Fitz Park. Intervention work is ongoing.
3. Joint visits with Town Council representatives to discuss the problems and possible preventative measures that can be taken
