Jonny was appointed as Assistant Chief Constable in August 2023. Prior to this, he held a joint role, leading the collaboration between Cumbria Constabulary and Durham Constabulary around Digital, Data and Technology.
Jonny has over 20 years' policing experience and has been a detective at each rank working in West Yorkshire Police, and Durham Constabulary. Jonny has previously held roles in CID, Safeguarding, a Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, as well as Headquarter change programmes. He has an interest in ‘what works’ in policing and in 2018 completed a Masters Degree at Cambridge University which was centred around evidence-based policing.
Jonny has an interest in digital & cyber elements to crime and policing. and is an accredited Cyber and Digital Investigation strategist with the Chartered Institute of Information Security Professionals. He is also a member of the Strategic Governance Board of the Institute of Cyber Digital Investigation Professionals.
Jonny is married with three children and lives in Cumbria.
