You must not drive faster than the speed limit for the type of road and your type of vehicle. The speed limit is the absolute maximum - it doesn’t mean it’s safe to drive at this speed in all conditions.
Stopped by the police
If you are caught speeding by an officer you could face
- Verbal warning
- TOR (Traffic Offence Report)
There are three disposal outcomes of a TOR, a speed awareness course, conditional offer of fixed penalty which is currently £100 and three points on their licence or those detected driving at high speeds will be referred to the Magistrates’ Court.
