We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people with a passion for serving the community and keeping the public safe. Our officers provide a vital frontline service for our Cumbrian community and visitors to the county.

What is the role of a police officer?

As a frontline police officer you will be the face of the Constabulary supporting local communities, building relationships and combating crime. It is a vital role and one that makes a tangible difference to the communities in which we serve.

It is therefore imperative that you, as a police officer, can understand, empathise and work with lots of different people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. No two days are the same and you will need to be able to draw from your training and instincts to make important decisions.

It's a demanding and fast paced environment, but one that is incredibly rewarding for those looking to make a real difference. From providing community reassurance to making arrests, our officers are supporting the community 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

If you already have an Undergraduate or Bachelors Degree at Level 6, in any subject then you are eligible to apply for our Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP)

Don't have a degree? We have an entry route for you!

Our Police Constable Apprenticeship programme (PCDA) is open for those without a degree and during your training you will work towards a degree whilst working as a police officer
