CI Nutter has 20 years’ service in a detective background; 2 years with Thames Valley Police and 14 with Greater Manchester Police before moving to Cumbria. Find out why she took the leap and what she thinks of Cumbria!
“Before moving to Cumbria I probably had some pre-conceptions about what policing would be like up here, particularly having come from a busy Metropolitan force. How wrong I was! Policing in Cumbria is as busy, varied and complex as anywhere else in the country.
"From the first day I arrived, I was made to feel so welcome. Cumbria is a relatively small force in terms of numbers, but that is what makes it so amazing; it has a lovely ‘family’ feel and you genuinely feel like everyone is proud to work here and wants to do their best for the communities we serve.
Cumbria is a forward thinking, progressive force, keen to embrace new ways of thinking and ideas.
"I also thought that being a smaller force it might be ‘dead men’s shoes’ to move departments/get promoted but again, my preconceptions were quickly proved wrong. Cumbria is a forward thinking, progressive force, keen to embrace new ways of thinking and ideas.
"On a personal level, living in Cumbria is amazing – it’s the Lake District, what’s not to like! Beautiful scenery, fantastic walks on your doorstep, outdoor activities, I could go on…
"I’ve been here for 4 years now and I would encourage anyone thinking about making the jump to just do it, you won’t regret it for a second."
