Road Safety
Issued 24 October 2024
PC Dixon has linked in with local residents regards a parking issue close to Askam level crossing following concern of vehicles parking on a blind corner. This issue is now resolved and there have been no further incidents reported.
PS Dilks and PC Dixon attended Askam Village School and agreed a joint approach with school staff following concerns raised over irresponsible parking at drop-off and pick-up times.
We've done high visibility patrols at relevant times, and issued a letter to all parents over their responsibilities when parking near the school, and we are pleased to report this matter appears resolved.
We have done significant work around road safety in Askam. This has included utilisation of the Speed Indication Device (SID) at specific locations, use of speed gun at specific locations, and school visits around road safety.
In Dalton we have conducted similar road safety work, primarily speed gun operations, and additionally we had Mr Allen, the PFCC, hold a surgery in Dalton Co-op, which we also utilised as a Police Desk.
