Carlisle City Centre Priorities

  • You said: Anti Social Behaviour in the City Centre
Issue was set on Wednesday, April 5
    • We did: Operation Mangrove commenced on 20th February, this follows on from Operation Orion. Operation Mangrove provides 3 dedicated police officers to the city centre to address youth anti-social behaviour problems. These officers work alongside the city centre PCSOs. The operation has provided a higher police presence in the city centre, which has resulted in a reduction in youth anti-social behaviour incidents. Police are continuing to take positive action where crimes are committed. Recent results include: 2 youths summonsed to court for an assault on Scotch Street and causing damage inside the Lanes shopping centre; 2 youths given cautions for causing damage on Scotch Street. Also 3 youths have signed anti-social behaviour contracts with police. From 6th April police are commencing a new weekly police desk in Carlisle Library in the Lanes shopping centre on Thursday afternoons between 3-5pm. This is an opportunity for the public to meet local officers to report incidents, obtain advice and to raise local priorities. Police also hold a weekly police desk at the Carlisle Youth Zone every Friday night 530pm -730pm.
