For vehicles abandoned on the M6 or A74 within Cumbria please contact Cumbria County Council’s waste management team by telephone on 01228 607644 or by email waste.management@cumbria.gov.uk

For abandoned vehicles on all other roads, this is a local district council function. Your local district council will deal with any vehicles reported as abandoned on local roads or property (usually including private property). The vehicle will be removed if it is causing a public nuisance, is untaxed or if it has not been removed by the owner a specified length of time after a notice of removal has been placed on the vehicle.

Untaxed vehicles on the public highway can also be reported to the DVLA hotline:
Tel:   08000 325202
