The successful candidate will be working to meet the requirements of the Constabulary and, within reason, the convenience of customers, ensuring legal time constraints are met. There may, therefore, be a requirement to work evenings and weekends.
The role will involve using your knowledge of firearms legislation and investigative skills, reporting accordingly, to allow fully informed decision s to be made regaridng the sutiability if indivudals to hold certificates and permit.
You will work from home, using your own vehicle, being paid Essential User allowance and mileage within the geographical area of work from either Workington Police Station or home, whichever is the lesser distance (if the applicant resides outside the work/customer area additional travelling time and costs will be incurred at the post holders own expense).
You will collect your work, on a weekly basis from Workington Police Station, and there will be a requirement for you to make appointments to video call and/or visit applicants, in their homes, mainly in the West Cumbria area but, on occasions, in other areas of the county.
To make enquiries, conduct visits and make recommendations in respect of the initial issue and renewal of firearm and shotguns certificates and permits and visits to registered firearms dealers and Home Office approved gun clubs, as required by firearms legislation.
