Applications are invited for the post of Standard Police Driving Instructor based at Headquarters, Penrith.
The role will be to deliver high quality driver training to standard level and other associated specialist training when required. Demonstration, assessment and associated specialised skills to police officers and police staff personnel, thus enabling staff to be equipped to respond to immediate response, possibly pursuit and day-to-day driving duties.
Applicants will be required to successfully complete a 6-week police Standard car instructors’ course, Standard response car driving course and Advanced car driving course. These courses may be undertaken out of force. Candidates must have the appropriate skills to develop individuals and support student centred learning.

Each stage must be successfully completed in order to progress through the process.
The selection process for applicants will be –
1. Written theory test on Highway Code > 85%
2. Assessed drive
3. Instructional ability test
4. Classroom presentation
The successful applicant will be expected to pass a Police Car Instructor Course. The course may be undertaken out of force and will last for 6 weeks. Dates to be confirmed.
The successful applicant will be expected to pass a Standard car and Advanced car driving course.
