Detention Officer - V49
Scale 4 ( £20619- £22833 + Shift Allowance and Rostered Weekend Allowance)
Based within North Custody
37 hours per week
We are currently recruiting for a Detention Officer to be based at Durranhill Station. The post of custody detention officer is both demanding and rewarding. You will work as part of a close team of police, police staff and other agencies that provide the service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Your primary responsibility is to look after the safety, needs and welfare of the detainees. This will involve interacting with detainees some of whom can be difficult and challenging. You will be responsible for obtaining evidential photographs, fingerprints and DNA from detainees. You will be given training on safe handling of detainees, use and access to policeworks, RedSigma and the Police National Computer (PNC). It is vital that a detention officer has high professional and ethical standards, good communication skills, can work as part of a team, has resilience of character, is diligent and takes pride in the level of service they provide. You will work primarily alongside one sergeant who has responsibility for the unit and will be your immediate supervisor.
