Police are investigating a robbery that took place last night (19th March) in Carlisle.

Police were called to the Bargain Booze store on Furze Street, at 8pm, following a report that a male had entered the store and threatened two members of staff with a knife, before making off with £250.

The male offender is described as white, between 5ft 7 and 5ft 10 tall, of medium build and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a bright blue outdoor jacket with a peaked hood which was pulled tight around his face, dark tracksuit bottoms and black and grey trainers.

Detective Chief Inspector David Pattinson, North Cumbria CID, said:

“Officers and detectives are working hard to trace this offender and we appeal to any members of the public who have information to come forward.

“Although nobody was hurt this was understandably a distressing incident for both members of staff.

“We want the public’s help in tracing the man responsible. No matter how insignificant you may think your information is, it could be vital to our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
