PURCHASE/SALE/TRANSFER OF GUNS

Shotgun - If you acquire you must ensure the previous owner completes all boxes at Table 2 of your certificate.

Shotgun - If you dispose you must complete all boxes at Table 2 of the new owner’s certificate, if transferred to a Registered Firearms Dealer, or handed to police for destruction obtain a receipt.

Shotgun - If a shotgun is lent/borrowed for less than 72 hours no endorsement of certificate or notification is necessary.

Firearm - If you acquire you must ensure you are authorised at Part 1(ii) of your certificate (ensuring the authority has not already been used by completion of Table 1) and the previous owner completes Table 1 of your certificate.

Firearm - If you dispose to another certificate holder, as above, you must confirm they are authorised to acquire then complete Table 1 of their certificate.  If transferred to a Registered Firearms Dealer, or handed to police for destruction obtain a receipt.

In all cases certificate holders acquiring or disposing of a shotgun or firearm must, within seven days, forward, in writing/email, notification of the change, including the names, addresses and certificate numbers of both persons involved and the gun details, to the Firearms Licensing Unit.
