As a small South Lakes charity we run two services:

  • a 7 bed refuge for women fleeing domestic abuse
  • a community support hub for those affected by domestic abuse.

The refuge provides safe, comfortable accommodation with person centred emotional and practical support to help women recover and start to rebuild their lives. Women living in the refuge are invited to take part in the groups at the community hub. The refuge can only house women without children.

The community hub provides one to one emotional and practical support and group work including Recovery Toolkit, a weekly drop in group for clients and various courses throughout the year such as Self Esteem and Confidence Building.

In some circumstances 6 sessions of specialist counselling are also provided to survivors of abuse. We mainly support women but do have a small number of male clients (no groups for men) and our focus is on helping people recover and move forward . Some of our clients are still in the abusive relationship. We can't currently offer support to under 18's.

We accept self and agency referrals. The community hub is open Mon-Thurs 9-5 and Fri 9-1.
