At MARAC midwifery will provide current information if there is an ongoing pregnancy. We can also provide any details of ED attendance. In the case of an ongoing pregnancy the named community midwife will endeavour to attend MARAC and present the case to the other panel members.

Questions regarding domestic abuse current or previous are asked as a routine part of our antenatal risk assessment. Routine enquiry is made at booking and again at two other intervals throughout the pregnancy.

All midwives receive regular updates on Domestic abuse and its impact on parenting and family support. They are aware of how to escalate any concerns, complete risk assessments, referral to MARAC and Children's safeguarding Hub.

We also have Midwives, Maternity Care Assistants and administration staff within our service who have received further training as Domestic violence and sexual abuse Champions and can provide extra support to both patients and staff.
