What information we provide in MARAC

Children's services provide an overview and share relevant information of any historical and/or current involvement the department has had with any child/ren identified within a MARAC referral (i.e CIN, CP, CLA). Any safety plans in place are shared that are specific to the DV element of the concerns. We are also able to identify other significant children whom referring agencies may be unaware of.

In attending MARAC our representative is also able to gather key information pertinent to the safeguarding of children which is then shared with allocated Social workers for the relevant children.

The type of actions we can offer to help safeguard and support the victim and associated children within a MARAC meeting.

Children's services can offer a view as to whether the child being discussed could be referred to the safeguarding HUB for an assessment. Regarding already opened cases, children's services can offer to talk to the victim, visit with involved agencies if appropriate. Children's services can help with creating safety plans which will safeguard the child from DV. The allocated worker through their involvement always speaks to the child to gather their wishes and feelings.

Actions also see the promoting of joined up working and effective communication between agencies to ensure best practice and safeguarding of all.
