Carlisle City Council's Homeless Prevention and Accommodation Services provides a range of specialist support and practical assistance to safeguard individuals and families, which supports the MARAC process.

The services provide enhanced housing and support services, which include:

  • Statutory homelessness and housing advice and assistance
  • Intensive support and specialist interventions for those identified at risk of homelessness or experiencing  homelessness as a direct result of domestic abuse or exploitation
  • Provision of supported secure emergency and safe house accommodation
  • Safeguarding, risk and needs assessments and referrals including MARAC
  • Rehousing, sanctuary, injunction applications and personal safety support measures
  • Specialist welfare advice and income maximisation support
  • Support to move home safely and sensitively, including out of area
