T/Assistant Chief Constable - Justin Bibby
Justin joined the police in his home county of Cumbria in 1992. He joined the Mobile Support Group in West Cumbria with 4 years’ service, qualifying as an authorised firearms officer. Upon promotion to sergeant in 2000, he worked at various stations in the west of the county before moving to Headquarters to support the Chief Officer team managing national portfolios on Workforce Modernisation and Fingerprints.
As an inspector, he was posted to North Cumbria to manage the City Centre policing team before securing promotion to Chief Inspector. He gained extensive operational command experience in both public order and firearms including being the Tactical Firearms Commander for the Derek Bird shootings, and an Operational Public Order Commander for South West London during the disturbances in 2011.
He led the design and implementation of the single site command and control solution for the Constabulary and in 2014 gained promotion to Superintendent in North Cumbria.
As a Strategic Firearms Commander, Public Order Gold Commander and Strategic Coordination Group Chair, he has over seen many firearms deployments, the Kendal Calling Music Festival, key football matches and was a Police Gold Commander during the 2015 floods.
He became Temp ACC (Operations) in January 2019.
Justin lives in Cumbria, is a keen cyclist, fell and mountain runner, and enjoys CrossFit.
