West Cumbria detectives investigate bank holiday robbery

Detectives in West Cumbria are investigating a robbery that occurred in Distington on Bank Holiday Monday.

At approximately 2am on Monday 30 August, a 22 year old local man was attacked by three males while he was making his way home on the cycle track at Distington, underneath the new bypass bridge. The victim suffered minor facial injuries and had his mobile phone and £20 cash stolen.

The three male offenders are all believed to be local and one spoke with a west Cumbrian accent. One of the males is described as being around 5ft 10 with dark hair and was wearing a red and white check shirt. The second male is described as aged around 18-20 and was wearing a light blue hooded top with writing on the front with a white baseball cap.

An investigation has been launched and officers are appealing for anyone with information about the incident or who saw any males matching these descriptions in the area to please contact DC Sandra Thomas at Whitehaven CID on 0845 33 00 247.
