Two Workington men charged with data protection offences

Cumbria Police have today charged 41 year old Jason Thomas Robinson from Workington with conspiracy to obtain or disclose personal data or information contained within personal data under section 55 Data Protection Act 1998. 

At the time of his arrest on 31 August 2012, Jason Robinson was a serving Detective Sergeant based in Workington. He was immediately suspended from duty and this remains the case today.

As part of the investigation led by officers from Cumbria Constabulary’s Professional Standards Unit, a second man was arrested and has also been charged. 61 year old George Nevins from Workington has been charged with conspiracy to obtain or disclose personal data or information contained within personal data under section 55 Data Protection Act 1998.

Both have been placed on bail to appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court on 31 January 2013.
