Following a police appeal in the local media, two men have been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a Carlisle petrol station.
At around 9am on Sunday 5th September, police received reports of an attempted robbery at the Esso Filling Station on London Road, after two males entered the premises carrying metal bars and demanded money from the assistant.
The first offender was described as a white male, around 30-yrs-old, 5ft 9" tall, of slim build wearing a woolen hat and dark sweater. The second was described as a white male in his twenties, of stocky build wearing a black jacket.
Both males left the premises after failing to obtain any money and were believed to have made off towards Upperby via the Lady Gilford area.
DI Mark Backhouse said: “We issued CCTV footage in a bid to track down the suspects, and thanks to the images being shown in local newspapers and on local TV, two men from Carlisle, aged 28 and 33, were arrested and are currently in custody where they are helping police with their enquiries.”
Because the CCTV footage and the identity of the suspects will form a key role in the investigation, it is requested that these images are not used again, and are removed from your websites.
