Ulverston police are still concerned for missing man, Mark Westall, as five days of searching the local area have proved unsuccessful.
Police mounted a search for 44 year old Mark Westall, of North Lonsdale Road, Ulverston after he was reported missing on Monday 23 January 2012. He was last seen at 9.30pm on Monday 23rd January 2012 on North Lonsdale Road.
The search focused on a bus route from from Barrow Town Hall to Barrow Railway Station yesterday after witnesses reported seeing a man matching his description get onto a bus some time between 2 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday 25 January.
He is described as white, 5' 6'' tall, of a stocky build with dark brown, collar length wavy hair. He was last seen wearing an orange jacket and blue trousers, with a light coloured sweatshirt worn under his jacket.
Sergeant Martin Harbidge said: “It has been a few days since Mark last took his medication and police and his family are getting increasingly concerned for his welfare.
“He disappeared suddenly and it is quite out of character. We believe that he left with a bus pass but don’t think that he has any money with him, which adds to our concern.
“We are appealing to Mark, or anyone who thinks they may have seen a man matching his description, to contact us straight away. You are not in any trouble Mark - we are just worried out you.”
Officers are still following up leads after witnesses described seeing a man matching his description on a bus in Barrow. Members of the public are asked to get in touch with the police if they have any information whatsoever which may help to identify where Mark is, or where he has been since Monday night.
Sergeant Harbidge continued: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish his whereabouts and whether the man that witnesses saw on a bus in Barrow on Wednesday afternoon was actually Mark. We are also appealing particularly for any members of the public who live in the North Lonsdale or Canal Foot area of Ulverston to be vigilant and be aware of any unoccupied or empty buildings or unfrequented areas of land in case Mark is sheltering somewhere.
“If anyone has any information that can help us or believe they see a man matching his description, they’re asked to contact Ulverston police urgently on 101.”
