Police investigate Pooley Bridge burglary

Police are investigating a burglary overnight in Pooley Bridge.

At 4:30am on Thursday 31 December police received reports that a burglary might be in progress after a window was heard being smashed at the village post office.

An investigation of the scene confirmed that the offender or offenders had tried to gain entry through a window.

Nothing was taken from the post office, but tools were stolen from the shed belonging to a house next door.

Officers made a full search of the village and surrounding areas to try and locate the offenders and are taking forensic evidence this morning.

Police are asking local residents and visitors to the area to think back - did they see any suspicious vehicles or activity, or anyone who looked out of place in the area yesterday or overnight?

Anyone with information should contact Penrith CID on 0845 33 00 247.
