Police can confirm that the man who was sadly found dead this morning on Pennine Way, Carlisle, was Derek Collingwood Smith, aged 55 from New Harraby, Carlisle.   

Mr Smith was found lying on a pavement in Pennine Way, paramedics attended but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

His family has been informed and there are no suspicious circumstances,  the case has been passed to the coroner.
