Police confirm identification of man found in Ullswater Lake

Police can now confirm the identity of the body recovered from Ullswater Lake on Saturday 3rd November as that of Michael Francis Bailey, aged 36 years. 


Mr Bailey lived local to the area and was reported missing on the 31st October.


A underwater search and rescue team recovered a body from lake Ullswater near to Glenridding.


His family have been informed and Police are not treating the death as suspicious and have passed the details onto the coroner.

Police continue their appeal for the public, local businesses and Bed & Breakfast owners to help trace Michael Bailey from Penrith who went missing 1 week ago.

Michael, aged 36, was last seen by a friend at approximately 5.30pm on Friday 26th October in Penrith.

“Anyone with information about Michael’s whereabouts, or anyone who thinks they have seen him, should contact Penrith Police on 101 as soon as possible.”

Michael is described as white, approximately 6’ tall with a stocky build, clean shaven fair complexion blue eyes with a bald head. A photo of Michael is attached.
