The parents of a 19 year old man who sadly died in a road traffic collision outside Carlisle on Saturday have paid tribute to a loving and much adored son.
19 year old Joshua William Downham of Kirkbampton sadly died after the black Ford Fiesta he was driving collided with a tractor at around 2.10pm on Saturday 28th January on the B5307 on the outskirts of Carlisle near to the village of Moorhouse.
Joshua’s parents, Will and Judith Downham, said: “Josh was a son that any parent would dream of and a loving brother. He was a caring, loving boy, adored by everyone who knew him. He was full of life and ambition, and for him to be taken away from us so cruelly, and at such a young age is unbearable. Our hearts also go out to Sophie who he simply adored, we respectively ask that we be left alone at this time to grieve in private.”
The driver of the tractor, a 29 yr old local man, was uninjured during the head on collision. The road was closed to allow officers from Cumbria Police to conduct a thorough examination of the collision scene, and to enable the vehicles to be recovered.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing. Any witnesses are urged to contact North Cumbria’s Road Policing Unit on 101.
