In November 2009 Cumbria felt the devastating effects of severe flooding after more than 300mm of rain fell in 24 hours - the highest levels of rainfall since records began.
Led by Cumbria Constabulary, the emergency services mounted the largest rescue operation the county has ever faced, nearly 300 people were evacuated, six bridges collapsed, more than 1,500 homes and businesses were flooded and tragically, PC Bill Barker lost his life.
