Ulverston
Ulverston saw in the New Year with only a few calls for service. The town centre saw up to two hundred people gather around the cenotaph to celebrate. The incidents reported were criminal damage and minor assaults.
More officers were on the streets, on foot, patrolling local licensed premises to ensure patrons were aware of the increased police presence and landlords were taking responsibility of the customers in their establishments.
Of the reported assaults 75% occurred in licensed premises, or those involved had been in prior to the incident. Of these nearly 50% were detected. The others are pending results.
Cumbria Police are continuing their checks of licensed premises and the “Challenge 25” scheme. For further information contact Ulverston police on 101 and ask to speak to PC1501 Wheeler, the Ulverston & Lakes NPT Licensing Issues officer.
We continue to ask everyone to be vigilant and to contact the police if they believe a crime is in progress or they see suspicious behaviour. If anyone has any information in relation to these or any other incidents please contact Cumbria Police on 101 or call CrimeStoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
