Other meetings that we attend:

We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. Speeding
  2. Drug Dealing.

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. Speeding

At our Safer Stronger Community meeting on 13th November 2011 we spoke to 51 residents in the Brook Street area and you highlighted speeding to be the main issue particularly around St Nicholas Gate. We will be working alongside our Roads Policing Unit to tackle speeding and traffic offences over the coming months.
  2. Drug Dealing.

We will continue to target the addresses on the area where we get information to suggest that the occupants are dealing drugs. Since the last safer stronger meeting as a result of information you gave us we executed a warrant at Fusehill Street. No drugs were found, however a large amount of cash was seized and the the male occupant was arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences.

Now the dark nights are here we would urge all residents to review their home security. A spate of recent burglaries have nealy all been opportunist where entry has been gained via an insecurity to a house or shed. Regularly reviewing your security can prevent this. Please consider the following actions:-

1.  Fit burglar alarms and good outside security lighting, check regularly to ensure they work.

2.  Lock all windows and doors before you go out.

3.  Remove keys from locks and keep out of reach of windows and doors.

4.  Ensure your house is secure, even when you are in the house or garden.

5.  Ensure side gates and sheds are locked.

6.  Keep valuables safe and well hidden

7.  Postcode your valuables with a UV pen

8.  Leave a light on and draw the curtains if you go out at night.

9.   Look out for your neighbours property

10. Consider joining a Neighbourhood watch scheme.

11.Cancel newspapers, milk etc when you go on holiday.

12. Make sure callers to your home are genuine, always ask for ID
