Your Policing Team

South Westmorland

Following a review of how Community Patrol Officers are being deployed within the Kendal Neighbourhood Policing Team Area the number of 'points of contact' for each geographic area has been simplified to show just the Community Inspector, Community Sergeant and Police Community Support Officers. Community Patrol Officers will still be deployed to your area with the remaining 'points of contact' ensuring Officer deployment remains focused and community concerns are addressed effectively.

Over the April period reports of metal thefts and fuel thefts have continued in the South Cumbria area.  We urge members of the community to report any suspicious vehicles or persons to Police on 101.  For crime prevention advice in relation to these types of thefts, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

In the Arnside area there has been a number of thefts in relation to wheelie bins and two incidents of arson.  Enquiries are continuing in relation to these.

In the Milnthorpe area (including Hale and Heversham) there has been two thefts reported in relation to diesel and metal, and one incident of criminal damage reported.  Please check your property regularly and do everything you can to keep it secure.  We are happy to discuss ways to keep your home and property safe, all you need to do is get in touch!  Also in the Milnthorpe area there has been and incident of arson, a report of criminal damage and a male arrested for assault.  Enquiries are ongoing.

In the Levens area, garden pots were reported stolen and in the Crosthwaite area sheep we reported stolen.  Please assist the Police by reporting any suspicious activity or anything you think may be unusual in relation to people or vehicles in your area.  It may help build a bigger picture in the long run and provide a link between other crimes.  You can keep up to date with crimes occurring in your area by joining cumbriacommunitymessaging.co.uk for free.

In the Holme and Burton area, three thefts of metal were reported as well as an attempt burglary, a theft and an incident of criminal damage.   Again, please take steps to make your property as unappealing to criminals as possible.

The Endmoor and Natland areas have been quiet.  Endmoor and Natland are the Safer Stronger Community priority following an increase in complaints and logs regarding anti social behaviour.  Patrols will continue to focus on the problem areas in a bid to reduce the amount of anti social behaviour occurring.

We regularly receive reports of scam phone calls in this area, please get in touch should you wish to discuss crime prevention advice and we will happily come and see you.  The people making these calls can be very manipulative; don't be afraid to say NO!

Cold callers have been reported again in the area as a whole, we remind members of the community to be vigilant and report any suspicious incidents/people/vehicles to Police on 101 or to Trading Standards.

Pro active reporting of suspicious vehicles/persons from members of the community has assisted us with a lot of enquiries; we thank you for this and ask that you continue to do this by ringing Cumbria Police on the non-emergency number 101 (any time day or night).  In an emergency always dial 999.  Remember you live in a safe area, it is important we work together to keep it that way.

If you would like to join Cumbria Community Messaging then please contact us or visit www.cumbriacommunitymessaging.co.uk.  It is managed by the Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch Association and offers you and other members of communities across Cumbria the means to receive crime information from Cumbria Police.  You can select which information you wish to receive by managing your own settings, and it is completely FREE.  Anyone can join, you do not have to be a member of Neighbourhood Watch (NHW), or become a member of NHW to join.  You can join as an individual or as a group.  So, if you want to receive information but do not wish to be responsible for a larger group, you are still welcome to make use of this messaging system.

As well as Cumbria Constabulary the partners providing information are Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch Association.  If you do not have internet access, contact Jess or Jayne from Milnthorpe Police Station on 101 and they will register your details on the system.
