Community Meetings Shap Memorial Hall:
15:00 - 18:00 Friday 1st October
10:00 - 14:00 Saturday 2nd October

We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. Anti social use of motor vehicles – Hackthorpe and Lowther
  2. Speeding on the A6 and Hackthorpe back road

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. Anti social use of motor vehicles – Hackthorpe and Lowther

No complaints or concerns have been received from members of the public. Officers patrolling the area have not seen any anti social use of motor vehicles.
  2. Speeding on the A6 and Hackthorpe back road

Static observations have been carried out in the village. No issues noted. We are still awaiting news from our Traffic management officer regarding a TDU (traffic data unit) being set up in the village.

A community meeting was held in Hackthorpe Village hall on the 17th August regarding speeding through the village. Results from traffic surveys carried out by both Cumbria Highways and Cumbria Police were shown to those at the meeting. The peak times for speeding were identified as between 08:00 - 10:00, and 15:00 - 18:00. Radar checks will be carried out at between those times.

CRIME PREVENTION

Over the past few months Appleby NPT has suffered from burglaries of business premises. Offenders have forced doors and windows and have targeted cash tills and safes. In some cases windows have been left insecure or open. We would ask that you review your physical security of your premises and your security routines.  If anyone would like any further advice on this please get in touch with Cumbria Constabulary on 0845 33 00 247.
Please help us in making Appleby NPT an unprofitable area for travelling criminals to visit. Keep your property secure and continue to report any suspicious vehicles or persons in our area.
