Operation MIST
PCSO Andy Cotton has again managed to get funding and will be looking for activities for the group through the spring. Past activities have including litter picks, clearing areas of non native species, preparing flower beds, clearing ditches and adding drainage channels etc. If you have a project or idea where young people can help improve the area, please contact Andy on 101.
Police Summer Outdoor Activities
PCSO Chris Newman has part funded a small project aimed at children in their final years of primary and/ or first year of secondary school. The project helped break down barriers between Police and young people, provided positive role models in the form of PCSO's and instructors and give an insight into the different activities available for young people.
Please contact PCSO 5271 Newman with any suggestions regarding funding or if your organisation is interested in helping with the project.
Many thanks to Scaws Tenants and Residents for donating £250 towards this years activities however we still need a further £500 to provide the same level of activities that we managed last year.
Home Security
Following an incident where a male entered an insecure house we would like to remind you to lock your doors and secure windows. Some other precautions that can be taken are:-
- Fit burglar alarms and outside security lighting.
- Remove keys from locks and keep them out of reach of windows and doors.
- Keep gifts, cash and valuables safe and well hidden.
- Postcode valuables with marking devices.
- Leave a light on in a room and draw the curtains when you go out at night.
- Cancel delivered items such as newspapers, milk when you go on holiday.
Free Kick About
On Wednesday evenings there will be a kick about session for youths aged between 11 and 16 years. This will be between 6 and 7 pm on the astro turf at Penrith Leisure Centre.
Domestic Violence is a crime-
Domestic violence is any incident of threatening behaviour or violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults aged 18 and over who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender. The primary role of the police is to prevent and detect crimes that have been committed. No-one should be subjected to any form of domestic abuse. Please remember you are not alone and we are here to listen, provide help and take firm legal action to bring offenders before the courts.
Protecting your identity-
Your identity and personal information are valuable. Criminals can find out your personal details and use them to open bank accounts and get credit cards, loans, state benefits and documents such as passports and driving licences in your name. Don’t throw away any documents containing your details – Destroy them by shredding or at least cutting them up. Utility bills are often used to ‘prove’ identity so destroy them when no longer needed. Be aware that unsolicited mail (offers of loans, credit cards, insurance etc) can contain your details – sometimes even your date of birth. Check your bank & credit card statements for anything irregular. If you think you have become a victim of identity theft contact whoever provided the account involved immediately.
Arrests have also been made in Penrith following incidents of anti social behaviour. Most of the arrests follow alcohol fuelled drinking sessions in the town. Police Officers have the power to issue dispersal notices to anyone who is causing a nuisance in the town; the dispersal notices can prevent you from entering the town for a 12 hour period.
If you are planning a night out in Penrith please don’t end it with us.
