Other meetings that we attend:

If you wish to discuss any specific issue please call in at the police station or e-mail us to request a contact call.

We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. 1.ANTI SOCIAL USE OF VEHICLES IN PENRITH TOWN CENTRE IN PARTICULAR THE HOSPITAL CAR PARK, KFC, BRIDGE LANE, SHELL FILLING STATION AND MCDONALDS FROM 7PM ONWARDS.

    2. TO TACKLE CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO UNATTENDED MOTOR VEHICLES IN THE CASTLETOWN AREA AFTER 9PM.

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. 1.ANTI SOCIAL USE OF VEHICLES IN PENRITH TOWN CENTRE IN PARTICULAR THE HOSPITAL CAR PARK, KFC, BRIDGE LANE, SHELL FILLING STATION AND MCDONALDS FROM 7PM ONWARDS.

    2. TO TACKLE CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO UNATTENDED MOTOR VEHICLES IN THE CASTLETOWN AREA AFTER 9PM.

    Tackling issue 1
Routine patrols of Penrith by officers continue to be a part of our daily patrol plan. Our PCSO’s (Police, Community, Support, Officers) also make regular patrols of hot spots. On the 6th of August a driver was issued with a Section 59 warning after PCSO Chris Newman observed him making a hand break turn. If the driver has a second warning within 12 months his car can be seized and even crushed.
On the 23rd of August a male was arrested following an incident where he passed an unmarked patrol car on double white lines. This male could face point on his licence or a driving ban for his actions.
On the 13th of August a male received a fixed penalty ticket after his exhaust was found to be excessively noisy.
    Tackling issue 2
High visibility patrols of Castletown continue to be a part of our daily patrol plan. Officers have been making regular stops of suspicious persons seen in the Castletown area in an effort to deter offenders from committing criminal damage. We will take action against anyone found damaging vehicles in Castletown.

Domestic Violence is a crime-

Domestic violence is any incident of threatening behaviour or violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults aged 18 and over who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender. The primary role of the police is to prevent and detect crimes that have been committed. No-one should be subjected to any form of domestic abuse. Please remember you are not alone and we are here to listen, provide help and take firm legal action to bring offenders before the courts.

Protecting your identity-

Your identity and personal information are valuable. Criminals can find out your personal details and use them to open bank accounts and get credit cards, loans, state benefits and documents such as passports and driving licences in your name.  Don’t throw away any documents containing your details – Destroy them by shredding or at least cutting them up. Utility bills are often used to ‘prove’ identity so destroy them when no longer needed. Be aware that unsolicited mail (offers of loans, credit cards, insurance etc) can contain your details – sometimes even your date of birth. Check your bank & credit card statements for anything irregular. If you think you have become a victim of identity theft contact whoever provided the account involved immediately.

On the 23rd of August a male was detained and arrested by Police Officers for shop lifting at a store in Penrith.  The male was later charged for the offence and will appear in court.

On the 22nd of August a male was detained at a store in Penrith after he was found to be shop lifting. He was arrested and charged for the offence. This arrest came following information from store staff and the offender being detained at the store by its staff.

Arrests have also been made in Penrith following incidents of anti social behaviour. Most of the arrests follow alcohol fuelled drinking sessions in the town. Police Officers have the power to issue dispersal notices to anyone who is causing a nuisance in the town; the dispersal notices can prevent you from entering the town for a 12 hour period.

If you are planning a night out in Penrith please don’t end it with us.
