Your Policing Team

Kendal West

Following a review of how Community Patrol Officers are being deployed within the Kendal Neighbourhood Policing Team Area the number of 'points of contact' for each geographic area has been simplified to show just the Community Inspector, Community Sergeant and Police Community Support Officers. Community Patrol Officers will still be deployed to your area with the remaining 'points of contact' ensuring Officer deployment remains focused and community concerns are addressed effectively.

Other meetings that we attend:

We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. Cycling on Pavements
  2. Motoring offences on the junction of Maude Street, Stricklandgate and Sandes Avenue.
  3. Youth related Anto Social Behaviour

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. Cycling on Pavements

A major problem within the Kendal area is that of cycling on footpaths and within the Town Centre itself, also it involves young and older alike, we would like to remind people that cycling on a pavement is an offence and carries a £30 Fixed Penalty fine.
There has also been reports of mini motorcycles on pavements, if caught these persons will be dealt with positively.Anti Social use of Mini Motos can result in the siezure and destruction of the cycle.
  2. Motoring offences on the junction of Maude Street, Stricklandgate and Sandes Avenue.

Regular Police operations at the Junction of Stricklandgate and Maude Street in conjunction with Roads Policing regarding this problem still do not seem to be getting the message acroos that It is an offence to turn right into Maude Street from Stricklandgate and also to continue straight ahead further up Stricklandgate. We have been monitoring this area following several complaints. If found contravening the mandatory direction arrow at this location you are liable to be issued with a £30 non-endorsable fixed penalty notice.
  3. Youth related Anto Social Behaviour

December evenings may not inspire much in the way of creative pastimes for youths but in the run up to Christmas consuming alcohol underage can seem like an appealing idea, not only is it against the law but often leads to other Anti Social Behaviour that can easily get out of hand, and if you are an adult planning to supply a minor with alcohol may we remind you that in doing so you could be faced with a hefty fine.
Once again enjoy the seasons fesivities but have consideration for others, again we ask that you help us to help you if you see youths drinking or misbehaving please inform us.

Crime and Antisocial Behaviour Report January 2011

Youth ASB remains a priority problem around the area, with a fascination for throwing objects at houses and vehicles, clearly this is not only distressing for the victims but could have serious safety implications not to mention the potential damage costs, if youths are seen indulging in such activity please inform the police.
With a slight recent rise in the number of burglaries in the area householders are reminded to keep property secure and be attentive to things occurring around theirs and neighbours homes, again anything suspicious witnessed should be reported to the Police.
Burglary reports down compared to November and December but up on same period last year.
Robbery figures remain static at zero.
Vehicle crime two reports for January compared to nil for same period last year .
Violent crime figures for January down on previous months but again increased from last year.
ASB reports showing slight increase compared to same period last year.
