Other meetings that we attend:

We will be attending High Furness Neighbourhood Forum where we will be discussing the police neighbourhood priority for the area.

We also attend Duddon, Hawshead and Coniston Parish Meeting each month. At all of these meetings there will be the opportunity to put forward Policing priorities for your areas. These will be taken to the Neighbourhood Forum meeting on your behalf.

We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. High Furness...

The number of incidents reported to Police regarding 'Off Roading' issues has fallen substantially recently.
Your Local Officers have been actively patrolling the worst affected areas in an effort to reduce the problem and to detect offences.
Recently there have been a number of Fixed Penalty Fines issued, warning letters sent, and warnings under the Police Reform Act, which would result in their vehicles being taken from them should their behaviour be repeated.
Work is ongoing with our Partner Agencies to find a more permanent solution to the problem.
It was again decided at the Neighbourhood Forum of the 21st February to keep this as your Community Policing priority.

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

Broughton and Crake Valley

One vehicle was recently broken into overnight in Broughton Square, and tools were taken. In another recent crime a shed was broken into and an oputboard motor stolen.  In surrounding areas the theft of Diesel is prominent, both from vehicles and filling stations.

Please contact Police immediately if any suspicious activity is seen. The non- urgent number is 101, and 999 if you suspect a crime in progress.

For vehicle security please bear in mind the following tips:

Top Tips to keep your car safe

Never leave keys in the ignition or in your car, even for a short time
Park with care, if possible in a busy, well lit area
If you have a garage use it. If you park on a driveway, close & lock any gates
Close windows, sunroof, lock doors & activate security alarms when leaving your car
Take valuables with you when you leave your car, eg: cash, credit cards, mobile phones, satellite navigation systems etc.
If you have no choice make sure valuables are locked in the boot, taking care no-one is watching you
Keep your driving and vehicle documents safe & not in your car
Postcode your valuables with a UV pen
Make sure your keys are secure at home & work
On cold mornings, don’t leave your car unattended with the engine running while it warms up

Crime remains low otherwise

Consiton and Hawkshead

Crime and anti social behaviour is down in Coniston and Torver. We have responded to calls for service at Butchers Close in Torver. We are checking some of the car parks where theft from the payment meters happened last year.

Since the 1 January six boats berthed on Windermere have lost outboard motors. Thieves have used moored tenders to get out to boats and remove engines. Be suspicious of any activity near to moored boats.

During March the Coniston Brewery company office has suffered an overnight break in at their office in the village of Coniston.

Monthly mobile stations.

The Neighbourhood policing teams have now finished the trial mobile police stations in Satterthwaite and Torver. Overall the initiative have been a success, some days were busier than others but we have had many visitors and locals coming to see us with a range of questions, concerns, information etc. It was also good to just meet people in the area so thank you to everyone who came and said hello! We are aiming to visit other areas and will post the dates on this page.
