We also attend Grange Town and Cartmel Parish meeting each month. If we are unable to attend, a report will be provided to the town/parish clerk.
We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said
At the Neighbourhood Forum on 7 March 2012 you said that your community priority for the local policing team was vehicles speeding in excess of the 30 mph and 40 mph speed limits around Grange and Allithwaite.
At the Neighbourhood Forum on 7 March 2012 you said that your community priority for the local police team was criminal damage, and graffiti which has occurred at the toilets and shelters on the promenade in Grange over Sands.
These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood
Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing
your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.
We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities
- At the Neighbourhood Forum on 7 March 2012 you said that your community priority for the local policing team was vehicles speeding in excess of the 30 mph and 40 mph speed limits around Grange and Allithwaite.
We will be visible on the roads. We will place Speed Indicator Signs on the roads to advise and slow down speeding drivers. On occasions, when staff and equipment are available we will check speeds on the roads and we will take action against speeding drivers. We will report on this action at the parish and town council meetings.
- At the Neighbourhood Forum on 7 March 2012 you said that your community priority for the local police team was criminal damage, and graffiti which has occurred at the toilets and shelters on the promenade in Grange over Sands.
We will continue to consult and work with Grange Town Council, SLDC and Continental Landscapes.
We will regularly patrol the promenade in the evening and after dark.
Two incidents of minor vandalism were reported durng December 2011. We have been regularly visible on the Prom. There have been no further reports since 1 january 2012.
In March, we have assisted young people from Cartmel Priory School to build a bench which has placed on Clare House Lane Grange, for the public to use. The work was completed with the help of Age UK, George Barkers and the school. Fantastic work by the young people. As you pass by and see, or use the bench, be reminded that not all of the young people in Grange are hell bent on destruction.

Over the last year Grange, Cartmel, Lindale and Holker wards have seen a sustained down turn in reported crime and anti social behaviour.
Recent crime reports which we think you should be aware of :
The toilets on The Promenade at Grange have been damaged on three occasions. Each report has happened overnight. The door to the gents has been broken and graffiti has been left. Do you know who signs their graffiti DB, if so please get in touch, we are keen to talk to that person.
Houseolders who have domestic heating oil tanks are reminded to keep a close watch on their fuel level. Fit a good quality padlock and make regular fuel meter checks. Theft of fuel has been reported at cartmel where approximately 1500 litres has been taken.
During April the Promenade cafe in Grange was broken into overnight and foodstuff was taken. The thief filled a wheelie bin and pushed it over the bridge onto Berners Car park where the stolen stuff was transferred to a vehicle. Have you seen anything which might help. Contact police on 101.
