We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. Drug dealing and use in the Bounty Avenue and Ennerdale Road area of Ewanrigg

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. Drug dealing and use in the Bounty Avenue and Ennerdale Road area of Ewanrigg

The current issue for Ewanrigg area is - drug dealing and use in the Bounty Avenue and Ennerdale Road area of Ewanrigg. We have tackled the problem through increased patrols and have executed a misuse of drugs act warrant at an address on Bounty Avenue that has led to the arrest of 2 people on suspicion of supplying drugs.

The previous problem for the area was anti social behaviour (ASB) by gangs of youths around the Arches, the 2 local shops and Ullswater Road.
Since that time we have put out extra patrols in the area, issued a number of banning orders, moved on groups of youths and recorded details of youths in the local anti social behaviour register. This generates a letter to the youths parents and is an excellent way to prevent problems re-occuring. Several cans and bottles of alcohol were also seized and destroyed.
In the follow up survey we carried out in the area almost everyone had noticed an improvement and stated that ASB was no longer a priority for them.
We will continue to monitor the area and deal with any problems as they arise.

ELLENBOROUGH

Crime fell for the second month in a row with no burglaries being recorded. There were 2 vehicle crimes recorded including a theft of a vehicle which has led to the arrest of an offender. The male is currently on bail while enquries continue. There were 4 violent offences recorded. 1 male was arrested for assault occasioning actual bodily harm an dis on bail whilst enquries continue. 1 male was arrested and reported for summons for common assault. Of the other offences recorded 2 were for drugs. One male was arrested and is on bail for drugs trafficking whilst a female was arrested and charged to court for possession of amphetamine. Only 3 other offences were recorded - 2 thefts and a criminal damage. 1 of the offences was a theft of pedal cycle and we would urge people to lock their bikes when they leave them as thefts of this type have increased lately.

EWANRIGG

Crime rose sharply in July however 10 of the offences recorded came from 1 night in which an offender kicked the wing mirrors off a row of cars. Since then a male has been interviewed and admitted all of the offences and has been reported to the youth offending team for consideration as to what action should be taken against him. There were 4 burglaries 3 of which were to dwellings at least one of which was insecure. Please ensure your houses and outbuildings are kept locked at all times to prevent opportunist burglaries like this occuring. There were 5 assaults reported and all have led to arrests or the offender being identified. 1 youth received a reprimand for assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), 1 male was charged with assault ABH, 1 was charged with common assault and a youth took part in restorative justice for common assault. Of the other offences most were minor thefts and criminal damaghes. One male was arrested for arson and is currently on bail while further enquries are carried out.

DEARHAM and ELLEN

Crime rose sharply this month with a spate of 5 burglaries being reported 4 of which were to sheds. 3 vehicles were broken into in the early part of the month and investigations are continuing into these and the burglaries. Of the other offences most were thefts or damage. There were 3 shopliftings reported and a male was arrested for them. 2 seperate damage offences led to the arrest of offenders one of whom has now been charged to court.
