Anti social behaviour in the Currock area continues to be the number one issue you want the police to tackle.
There is no doubt that anti social behaviour has a negative impact on the quality of life in Currock. We have put significant resources into the area to tackle the problem, and we are now calling on the local community to pull together to help catch the offenders.
We will be getting tough on offenders and prosecuting wherever possible. We will support this by reintroducing CCTV to the area and will use ASBOs and Dispersal Orders to manage people’s behaviour. We will also work with the local council and housing associations to target offenders, who may be at risk of losing their homes if they continue to behave in this way. Working with Riverside Housing and Carlisle City Council we have identified that youths are cusing problems for local residents by running across the wasteground on Leabourne Road and then onto Blackwell Road. Riverside Housing have agreed to put up a 6 ft fence to stop the problem. Graffiti removal work is also taking place on Leabourne Road, led by Carlisle City Council. Cumbria fire and Rescue Service have also worked closely with the Police and City Council in "fast tracking" the removal of unsightly and potentially dangerous concentrations of litter from a number of locations across the estate.
We have made a pledge to the local community to tackle the issues that matter most to them and have made anti-social behaviour our top priority. We now need evidence and information from neighbours and witnesses so we can target the offenders and put an end to the problem before it escalates into something more serious
