Crime
Crime continues to be low in the Caldew area. However we should not become complacent and should still be vigilant and report anything suspicious immediatley. Thieves are still out and about in the area
There has been an increase last month in commercial/agricultural premises burglaries. On the 3/08 a burglary occurred at Carlisle race course, 9/08 Cardewlees and within the last ten days at Newby West and two farms on the western outskirts of Carlisle.
Between 2/08 and the 10/08 damage was caused at two premises in the Blackwell area. Further damage has occured on seperate occasions at Cummersdale, Monkhill and Dykesfield.
On the 21/08 a caravan was set alight at Brow Nelson.
Between 03/08 and 16/08 there have been a number of thefts of building materials in the Scotby, Aglionby and Warwick on Eden.

Engagement
Dalston Show last year saw the largest attendance for 30 years. This year an attendance figure of 7000 was recorded surpassing last years record. The event was policed by Brampton NPT staff and passed without any problems. It was however reported to us that a number of the scare crows were tampered with during festival week.We would recommend that where ever possible displays are taken in over night.
On the 1st October a "KISS"(Keep It Safe and Sustainable) event will take place at Caldew School, Dalston. This event sponsored by Nestle, Dalston is to promote general safety with a strong emphasis on road safety in particular. The event will commence at 10am and will conclude at 8pm attendance permitting. Organisations present will include Cumbria police, Cumbria fire service, British transport police, WRC Stobart rally group, Racing challenge F1 group, Carlisle City Council, Shelly Wood paralympian celebrity, Nestle and affiliated companies. Each organisation will provide an array of vehicles, displays and literature.
The Caldew team will be working with Scotby School and Capita to improve road safety for children who attend this school, a consultation process has commenced regarding the proposed improvements, the outcome expected in September.
On the 18th September at William Howard School, Brampton ,a "Safe Club" will commence promoting sport and games amongst the youth of our area. It will be held every Saturday evening between 6pm and 9pm.
The area as a whole is currently experiencing an increase in persons trespassing on land with hunting dogs. We are currently looking at setting up Poacher Watch to compliment the Trespass Scheme already in use in an effort to obtain information reagrding illegal Wildlife activity and bring offenders to justice.
