Other meetings that we attend:

Your local officer will be attending the following meeting:
Tuesday 7th September 2010. BRAG. 7pm Metal Box Social club .
Monday 6th September 2010 Botcherby Neighbourhood Forum 7pm
Botcherby Community Centre.

We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. Drug dealing on the Botcherby Estate
  2. Youth related Anti-social behaviour.

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. Drug dealing on the Botcherby Estate

At our meeting on Durranhill Road on 12/5/10 we spoke to 70 residents who told us that drug activity on the area is still one of the

priorities we should be tackling. In the last month we have executed a warrant on Botcherby Avenue, 2 people have been arrested
for possession of drugs and 1 person arrested for possession with intent to supply. A further warrant was executed on Holywell Crescent and a female remanded in custody. We urge all residents to continue to pass information to us about drugs activity so that we can continue to execute these successful warrants.
  2. Youth related Anti-social behaviour.

You told us that the second priority we should be tackling is Youth related anti-social behaviour. You told us that there are a gang of youths on the area who are throwing stones, causing criminal damage and starting small fires. We have collected the names of the youths responsible and asked them to come to the police station with their parents where they will be spoken to by representatives from the police, fire service, youth offending and housing officers to enforce to them that this behaviour will not be tolerated. A resident has had her tenancy terminated after causing a large amount of anti-social behaviour on Botcherby Avenue. We are working closely with Riverside Housing to resolve these issues and would ask residents to notify us if they witness any anti-social behaviour.

Crime update

Overall crime on the area has decreased by 7.5% on the equivalent period last year, with burglaries  down by 27.9%.  Violent crime has decreased by 7.1% . Incidents of anti-social behaviour have fallen by 5.4% which goes against the trend of these incidents rising in the school holidays. The classification of violent crime can include anything from a minor assault where there is no injury right up to serious assaults and loss of life. Nearly all the recorded incidents on the area come in the minor classification. Anyone who is experiencing any violence should contact any of the team or Crimestoppers on 08453300247. We would also ask residents to follow the following rules regarding home security-

1.  Fit burglar alarms and good outside security lighting, check regularly to ensure they work.

2.  Lock all windows and doors before you go out.

3.  Remove keys from locks and keep out of reach of windows and doors.

4.  Ensure your house is secure, even when you are in the house or garden.

5.  Ensure side gates and sheds are locked.

6.  Keep valuables safe and well hidden

7.  Postcode your valuables with a UV pen

8.  Leave a light on and draw the curtains if you go out at night.

9.   Look out for your neighbours property

10. Consider joining a Neighbourhood watch scheme.

11.Cancel newspapers, milk etc when you go on holiday.

12. Make sure callers to your home are genuine, always ask for ID
