Other meetings that we attend:

We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. Speeding vehicles on Lowry Hill Road.
    Parking issues at Kingmoor School

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. Speeding vehicles on Lowry Hill Road.
    Parking issues at Kingmoor School

At our Safer Stronger community meeting on the 10th June 2010 you told us that we should be tackling speeding vehicles on Lowry Hill Road. You said that it was particularly bad in the evenings and at weekends. We will increase patrols in the area and use the radar gun to catch offenders. We will continue to monitor the situation. If anyone has any information relating to persistant speeding vehicles please contact any of the team or Crimestoppers on 08453300247.

You also told us that there are still on-going parking issues at Kingmoor School where parents are illegally parking while dropping off and collecting their children. We will monitor the situation with extra patrols and enforcement of any contraventions of the law. We do not have the legal authority to issue parking tickets for double yellow lines or school zig-zags anymore but we have passed your concerns on to the local parking wardens.

Overall crime in the Belah area has decreased by 46.8% on the equivalent period last year and in Stanwix by 26.7%. Burglaries are down by 83.3% in Stanwix and 66.7% in Belah, violent offences are down by 55.6% in Belah and 88.9% in Stanwix and incidents of anti-social behaviour are down by 56.3% in Stanwix and 41.8% in Belah. We were already dealing with a  very small numbers of crimes compared to other areas of the City so these reductions are quite remarkable and demonstrate the assistance we get from residents and partner agencies in the area. We will not become complacent and remind all residents that most burglaries and thefts from vehicles can be avoided if you review your home security and follow these simple rules-

1.  Fit burglar alarms and good outside security lighting, check regularly to ensure they work.

2.  Lock all windows and doors before you go out.

3.  Remove keys from locks and keep out of reach of windows and doors.

4.  Ensure your house is secure, even when you are in the house or garden.

5.  Ensure side gates and sheds are locked.

6.  Keep valuables safe and well hidden

7.  Postcode your valuables with a UV pen

8.  Leave a light on and draw the curtains if you go out at night.

9.   Look out for your neighbours property

10. Consider joining a Neighbourhood watch scheme.

11.Cancel newspapers, milk etc when you go on holiday.

12. Make sure callers to your home are genuine, always ask for ID
