Crime and Anti Social Behaviour
During April 2012, a total of fifteen crimes were reported in the Aspatria area. The following is a summary of those crimes reported.
A male has been summonsed to court for an offence of Dangerous Driving which occurred in November 2011 on the road near prospect House, High Scales.
A female has also been summonsed to court for an offence of Fraud by False Representation, after a Road Traffic Collision that occurred in October 2011 in the Westnewton area.
Overnight of the 7th April 2012 four secure and unattended motor vehicles parked at Harriston have had damage caused to the paint work of there vehicles. If anyone heard or saw anything or any one acting suspicious then please contact the Police on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A female was arrested and given a caution for being in possession of a bladed article.
On the 19th April 2012, a secure outside shed was broken into in the area of North View. The stolen items include a Dowes Black and White Mountain bike, a mini motto which was in a poor condition and a tool box. Intruder alarm systems including for sheds are available at a small cost from your local Age UK shops in Cockermouth, Wigton and Maryport.
A member of public reported to the Police on 22nd April 2012 that two persons were causing damage and interfering with a motor vehicle in the Noble Croft area. One suspect was arrested. Police enquires are ongoing.
On 23rd April 2012, between the hours of 1am and 8am unknown persons have smashed a rear window of a secure and unattended vehicle parked on Harriston Street. A spray paint machine was stolen. Police are encouraging persons to remove valuables and property from there vehicles and to keep them out of sight.
In April eleven incidents of Anti Social Behaviour were reported. These included neighbour disputes, youths congregating around residential areas causing noise and nuisance on skateboards and complaints from residents about anti social use of vehicles on Brandraw Car Park, revving there engines and leaving litter.
Rural
Overnight on 20th April 2012, persons have broken into a unit on the Industrial Estate at Fletchertown. The items that have been stolen include a Williams Trailer, two cement mixers and a dumper truck. The Police are investigating and enquires are ongoing.
Police attended the play park at Fletchertown after it was reported on the 20th April 2012, that a cable had been damaged. The cable was owned by BT and they are conducting there own investigation.
Two youths walking on the side of the road near Mealsgate were reported to the Police. On Police attendance no trace of the youths could be found.
A vehicle which had been left on the side of the road near Mealsgate was reported to the Police due too its location. Police made enquires and found the car to be in order and awaiting recovery. Police slow signs were placed to warn oncoming traffic.
The alarm at the Pre-School in Bolton Low Houses has been sounding. Police attended and found all was in order.

Consider fitting low energy dusk to dawn lighting, check regularly to ensure they work
Lock doors and windows before you go out
Remove keys from locks and keep out of reach of windows and doors

Ensure side gates and sheds are locked
Cancel newspapers; milk etc when you go on holiday
Look out for your neighbour's property
Make sure callers to your home are genuine, always ask for ID

Tips to Keep your Bike Safe & Secure
Always lock your bike when not in use, even for a minute
When out always lock & secure your bike in a well-lit public area
Home or away, use a good quality D-lock, locking the wheels & frame to an immoveable point, even when stored in a garage or shed
Remember to keep your bike out of sight to passers by & locked when at home or on the back or top of a vehicle
Mark your bike frame with a property marking product, this will help police locate and return stolen property. Consider registering on www.bikeregister.com or www.immobilisse.com
Remember to insure your bike, take photographs of your bike and take note of all the serial numbers.
The Police are in receipt of complaints of dog fouling. It is an offence for a person in charge of a dog at the time it fouls not to clean up its faeces in a public place. Failure to clean up after a dog has fouled may result in a Fixed Penalty Fine of £75.00, payable within 14 days, or a fine of up to £1000.
