We asked at your last SSC meeting what your local priorities were - You said

  1. As result of the new ballot boxes and consultation with the Parish Council you decided that anti-social behaviour / driving in the Milans Park area of Ambleside where your top priority.

These are community priorities that local people in your area have agreed with the Neighbourhood Police. You can influence priorities by attending your next local meeting and informing your NPT what crimes need clearing up in your area.

We did - action taken or planned to tackle your priorities

  1. As result of the new ballot boxes and consultation with the Parish Council you decided that anti-social behaviour / driving in the Milans Park area of Ambleside where your top priority.

The Safer Stronger Community ballot boxes have now been emptied. Although there was a poor response two issues were highlighted: One issue that has been raised is Cyclists driving at night time with no lights and also dangerous driving. Another issue which has been raised is Anti Social Behaviour and manner of driving of young people around Millan’s Park, Ambleside.

The two priorities were discussed at the last parish Council meeting and the issue which was agreed is Anti social Behaviour in Millan’s park. This is due to there having been a serious assault take place, whereby three local young males have been arrested and charged with assault and they are due in court on 24th August.

In September your local Policing Team will be conducting a multi-agency 'Street Safe' operation and 'Environmental Audit' in the Milans Park area. This together with targetted patrols will encourage the flow of information from the community and hopefully improve the local environment.

Crime update Ambleside

Statistically, comparing the previous 3 months in 2009 with the same period in 2010 there has been a 7.5% decrease in crime; this is 7 less reported incidents.

There has been a slight increase in reported burglaries with having 1 extra incident within the month of July. Your local Community Officers are currently visiting vulnerable properties based on previously reported crime in order to give crime prevention methods and provide advice and reassurance.

Violent crime in Ambleside has unfortunately seen a slight increase in having 3 extra reported incidents but in each case there has been an arrest made which is going to see all the incidents being detected. The types of incidents are domestic assaults and using threatening language towards a Police officer.

Vehicle crime continues to remain at a very low level with seeing a fantastic reduction of 40%, which means there have been no victims during the month of July. Operation Trice which is aimed at preventing vehicle crime has been launched over the Summer period and is proving very successful. The operation will continue to the end of the season.

Anti Social Behaviour has seen yet another brilliant reduction of 15.5% which is 3 less reported incidents.

Ambleside is a safe place to live. Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team has taken positive action when called to do so.

Crime Update Grasmere/Langdale

Crime in the Grasmere and Langdale area still remains very low however we have seen an increase in reported crime by 66.7%. This is 13 more incidents but these are related to a male which has been arrested at a Hotel in Grasmere for making fraudulent transactions on a number of different victim’s bank details.

Vehicle crime has seen no change in reported incidents. Operation Trice which is targeted at rural car parks has been launched again this summer period which is proving to be successful.

Anti Social Behaviour has seen yet another brilliant decrease of 8.3% in the number of incidents, along with violent crime seeing a fantastic reduction of 33.3%.

The low level of incidents in the Grasmere and Langdale areas is great news.
