Cyber Bullying
Cyberbullying is bullying done through technology, so examples could include text, e-mails, social networks, chat rooms, video sharing sites, etc. This form of bullying can be just as upsetting as any other, below are a few tips to try and help.
Give Respect Get Respect
Think about the effects of what you are sending and receiving when online. Don’t forward messages, pictures or insults about anyone, you could be upsetting someone and in some cases even committing an offence.
Save any evidence
Keep records of any messages, pictures or conversations that offend. They can all be used as proof that you are being bullied.
Passwords = Private
Don’t give out your password information to anyone.
Block the Baddies
Most sites now allow you to block or report people behaving badly online, use them if you need to.
Don’t reply
Most bullies look for a reaction, if you don’t give one they are more likely to get bored and leave you alone.
Tell someone
Tell an adult you trust. There are many places who can also help like Childline on 0800 1111.
It’s your right not to be bullied online
Bullying is bullying wherever it doesn’t matter where it takes place.
