Cumbria Constabulary is keen to promote the value of good security systems.
The Association of Chief Police Officers Police Response To Security Systems Policy distinguishes security systems into two categories: ‘Monitored’ and ‘Audible Only’.
Monitored - Policy Compliant Security Systems
When the alarm is activated it sends a signal to the Alarm Receiving Centre who contact the Police for attendance. These systems can be installed in both commercial and domestic properties by NSI (National Security Inspectorate) or SSAIB (Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board) Approved security companies.
Audible Only alarms
Do not receive automatic police response and require additional information from a person at the scene that a criminal offence is in progress.
Police Advice on Purchasing a Security System
