Commander West Cumbria - Chief Superintendent Steve Johnson

Prior to joining the police Steve served in the Royal Navy serving in the Fleet Air Arm on both Anti-submarine and Search and Rescue Squadrons as a weapons and electrical technician.
On leaving the Navy Steve joined West Midlands Police in 1995 and transferred to Cumbria in 1997. Steve has served predominantly in the West of the county in various uniform roles.
In April 2007 Steve was promoted to Detective Superintendent and led on the Protective Services project and briefly held the role of Director of Intelligence, a sideways move meant that he then headed the newly formed Public Protection Unit at HQ and implemented many changes to this area of business.
In October 2008 Steve was posted to North Cumbria as the Temporary BCU commander.
Steve became Commander for West Cumbria in 2010.
Steve is married with four children and lives in the West of the county.
