Assistant Chief Constable  Operational Policing - Michelle Skeer

Michelle Skeer was born in Carlisle and has lived all of her life in the north of the county. She joined Cumbria Constabulary in February 1990 having completed a degree course in History and Media at Leeds. Michelle worked in West Cumbria in uniform operational posts before taking up criminal investigation early in service. 

Michelle has held a number of posts within criminal investigation having served within every rank. She has been an SIO on a number of crime investigations and led on Public Protection and Serious Crime Operations for the force. 

In March 2007 Michelle was appointed Director of Professional Standards for the Constabulary where she was responsible for Anti-Corruption, Public Complaints, Disclosure, Information Security and Data Protection issues. 

She attended the Strategic Command Course at Bramshill in 2008/09. 

In May 2009 Michelle was appointed Assistant Chief Constable (Specialist Operations) in Cumbria. 

She is married to a serving police officer and has three children.
