Responsible for the areas of Employee Relations, Employee Resourcing and Development, Occupational Health, Training, Evaluation, and Health and Safety. 

Joanna Bancroft MBE has lived in Cumbria all her life coming from a farming family. On leaving Kirkby Stephen Grammar School she joined Cumbria Constabulary as a junior clerk in 1977 and has worked her way up to now holding the post of Director of Personnel and Development.

Her portfolio includes Recruitment and Resourcing, Training, Employee Relations, Wellbeing, Health and Safety and internal Diversity matters. The training dept has won national achievement awards in recent months.

Joanna sits as a member of the Chief Officer Group bringing her portfolio of skills to the highest level decision making body in the Constabulary.

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
